The James Morgan Show 3.10

Not much to say this week as we reach the end of our first half.

Here are this week's ratings:

1. ROLLING STONE (-)
Writer: D.R. Cobb / Executive Producer: Oliver Stone
Rolling Stone's dissection of early 1970s West Coast culture has been facsinating in more recent episodes. The series has come along way since it's beginning as a guest of the week type show.

2. CRIME OF THE CENTURY: LEOPOLD & LOEB (-)
Writer: Lon Charles / Executive Producer: Bennett Miller
At the beginning of the season, I was expecting something little more procedural, but instead we are getting a very compelling character study about two young men who committed the terrible crime the season centers around.

3. L.A. NOIRE (UP 4)
Writer: John Malone / Executive Producer: Gavin O'Connor
Getting back to the murders was good, and it was even better how the season is casting everything in a shade of grey. Technically the detectives are solving these crimes in a plausible way, solving them within a reasonable doubt, but there is still Phelp's theory in the background becoming more likely with each mystery.

4. HITMAN (UP 1)
Writer: Dwight Gallo / Executive Producer: Francis Lawrence
This last week did a really good job of not only pushing the season's story lines along, but also having some exciting action sequences. With just a few episodes to go on the season, things are maintaining a solid momentum, something that previous seasons struggled with.

5. MIAMI VICE (UP 5)
Writer: Roy Horne / Executive Producer: Peter Berg
The last couple episodes have featured some great character work. Two weeks ago, Holloway got to shine as Crockett, but this last week Tubbs finally got his due with an episode calling back a previous ill-fated relationship with the daughter of the season 1 villain, Calderone.

6. SHOWTIME (DOWN 3)
Writers: Mo Buck & Chad Taylor / Executive Producer: Steven Soderbergh
I honestly was hoping to continue with Santana's story line this week. However, the surprise ending of the episode helped make up for an episode that was not as interesting as the last few (until the final scene).

7. SHE-HULK (DOWN 1)
Writer: Chad Taylor / Executive Producer: Phoebe Waller-Bridge
Scott Porter has been a great addition to the cast as The Sentry, but that has been cancelled out by the underwhelming story line surrounding Southpaw.

8. THE SURVIVORS (UP 1)
Writer: Mo Buck / Executive Producer: Tomas Alfredson
I feel like the mystery of the series has become less clear as the season goes along. That said, this latest episode was high energy and entertaining.

9. BOREAS (DOWN 1)
Writer: Ann Morrow / Executive Producer: Mark Romanek
It looks like Boreas has hit the all too common mid-season slump. The show is still interesting, but it is definitely lacking the energy of the first few episodes. It happens to many series, so I'm not too worried about it.

10. THE CONTROLLERS (UP 1)
Writer: Jimmy Ellis / Executive Producer: Dan Trachtenberg
The show is told from a completely different tone than Control, and even the Controllers themselves act completely different than they did in the film. I think that's a major reason I've struggled with the this series so far. In Control, the group is a mysterious, all-knowing group that seems to always have a plan, but in the series so far they seem incompetent.

Last week you learned about a new series to come at the network for Season 3, but now it's time to learn about another new series:

Can You Hear Me?  : The series was teased not so long ago and today we're announcing it. Writer Ann Morrow will team up once again with director Marielle Heller (Leaving Everything, Can You Ever Forgive Me) for a dramedy about three best friends from a disadvantaged area of Montreal who struggle in their personal lives, but are always present for one another and despite their age difference, their difficult upbringing tightens their bond. Kristen Stewart (Underwater, Neuromancer) has signed one of the lead roles She will be joined by Maya Hawke (Stranger Things, Long Time) and Gabourey Sidibé (American Horror Story, Guilt). Maude Apatow (Euphoria, Hollywood) has also joined the cast as a young social worker who lives in the area and tries to help Kristen Stewart's character with her anger problem.
