Plot: Sonny Crockett (Josh Holloway) and Ricardo Tubbs (Taye Diggs) are in pursuit of a suspect speeding away down the highway at high speeds. The suspect hits a pothole, which flips the car up in the car, sending it crashing down into the swamps along the roadway. Crockett and Tubbs cautiously get out of their car and make their way over to the crushed remains of the suspect's car with their guns raised. When they get to the car, they find the suspect dead and a case of cocaine destroyed, with the drugs blowing around in the evening breeze.

Lt. Martin Castillo (Andy Garcia) gets on the case of Crockett and Tubbs for not bringing in a suspect, the drugs or the money used for the purchase. Crockett says that two of those three options were deemed impossible from the car crash. While Castillo is talking with Crockett and Tubbs, Stan Switek (Brad William Henke) and Larry Zito (Troy Garity) field a call from Vice informant Izzy Lamont (Mike Epps). He tells them that he heard about the crash and might have some information regarding the guy Crockett and Tubbs were chasing. Seeing that Crockett and Tubbs are busy, Switek and Zito decide to head down to Lamont's hotdog stand themselves.

Switek and Zito arrive at Lamont's beach side hotdog stand. Lamont is surprised to see them since he thought that Crockett and Tubbs were on the case. Switek and Zito tell him that those two are busy dealing with the mess of the deal last night, so now Lamont gets to deal with them. Lamont relents and tells the detectives that the driver from last night was a runner for an aspiring kingpin called Snares, who has been making big moves to take over the drug trade around Miami Beach. Switek and Zito are surprised that they've never heard of the guy, but Lamont assures them that he is real, and real dangerous, having made a name for himself in the world of Miami's underground bare-knuckle fighting. Lamont gives them an address of the next fight, where Snares will often be running his drug business from.

When Switek and Zito arrive at the fight they witness the hulking Marcus Snares (Winston James Francis) brutally pummeling his opponent in the ring. Switek says that Snares isn't so big, but Zito jokes that Snares makes Switek look like a shrimp. Switek sneaks off and puts some money on Snares' next fight. Snares makes quick work of his next opponent, knocking him out with a single punch. Zito confidently walks over to Snares and claims to be an MMA promoter from Atlantic City interested in getting into business with Snares. The fighter, Snares, is excited and shakes Zito's hand, engulfing it with his. They set aside a time for them to meet and discuss the matter more in depth at Snares' house the next day.

Zito and Switek return to OCB and inform the squad about their meeting with Snares, who is supposedly the one behind last night's ill-fated deal. Crockett and Tubbs are annoyed since it should be their case, but Castillo agrees to allow Switek and Zito to continue working it after they reveal all the details to the team. However, Castillo advises them to be extra careful undercover. When Switek and Zito walk away, Gina Calabrese (Katrina Law) confides in Trudy Joplin (Megalyn Echikunwoke) that she has a bad feeling about this one.

Zito and Switek arrive at Snares' house, which is much nicer than one would expect from an underground street fighter. Zito introduces Snares to Switek, referring to him as a trainer that works with his clients. Snares introduces the men to his wife, Lucinda Snares (Tabria Majors). Snares, with Lucinda at his side, shows off his impressive outdoor home gym. Switek comments that it is a sweet set-up and asks how he paid for it all. Snares says that he has various business ventures that have done well recently - hustlers always be hustling, he says. Zito and Snares sit down to discuss business, but Zito's lack of knowledge starts to show a little bit. Zito starts to get nervous as Snares becomes suspicious.
