Hello and welcome to the third edition of the James Morgan Show and as the countdown gets closer and closer to our grand opening, things have been a little bit slower lately at the Last Resort Television offices. I have two things things I want to talk about, so now let's get to business.
Before I talk about the latest development behind the scenes, I want to use this platform to talk to you guys about how we want to handle the ratings for Last Resort Television.
Traditionally, television ratings are used to compare shows between them in key demographics, mainly the key 18-49, but to do this, we need competition, which we don't have and since we can't really compare it to shows in real life, we have a reached an intern agreement on the way we want to handle the infamous ratings that you guys wanted so much in the survey.
As I mentioned before, we don't have anything to really compete with, so basically our shows need to compete against themselves and that would indicate if a show is successful compared to the other one presented in the same timeslot, but the following day. We developed an algorithm with a formula that gives us a rating between 0 and 10, with 0 indicating that nobody watches the show and 10 indicating that your show is being watched by everyone. For movie buffs out there, a 0 rating would mean a film would raise less than 10 million dollars for LRF and a 10 would mean grossing about $1.5G dollars. That way we think we could easily notice if a show is successful or not, simply by looking at the rating. Shows on Fridays would be penalized if we do the things the same than in real life, but since our schedule is little with only a few spots with such quality shows, that we don't want a show shown on Primetime Friday to have a disadvantage from a show shown on Primetime Monday, which would normally have a higher audience. Weekends will be handled differently to ensure that they have better chances at a good rating, as we label them as our premium TV shows.
The thing that would change would be the expectations that we have for the shows depending on the day they air. We would expect a higher rating for a show airing on Monday than a show airing on Friday, so there are instance where we could move shows around the schedule to try and avoid cancellation.
I hope I've been able to explain this well, as it's certainly clearer in my head, but now that I've talked about it, as usual, we want your opinion on it, so please make suggestions and comments on the designated board thread and keep things civil folks!
With that out of the way, let's talk about what's in development at the studio
Joining the previously announced Nez Perce (Dwight Gallo), Lady of the House (Chad Taylor) Rolling Stone (D.R. Cobb) and Survivor: Last Resort (Chad Taylor), Gauntlet (Matt Parker) and Hitman (Dwight Gallo) are:
Leaving Everything: Joining the already announced Rebecca Hall and Robin Tunney in the Ann Morrow adaptation of the French Canadian hit novel La Femme qui fuit directed by Marielle Heller is Tobey Maguire, as Quebec painter Marcel Barbeau, Rebecca Hall's Suzanne husband, Adam Brody as famous painter Jean-Paul Riopelle and acquaintance of both Barbeau and Suzann, and Oliver Platt as poet Claude Gauvreau, with whom Suzanne entertains a relationship, completing the main cast. Lance Henriksen, Adam Arkin and Zoe Kravitz will complete the recurring cast. Henriksen will play Suzanne's son and Robin Tunney's Anais uncle in the present day. Arkin will play a man who befriends Suzanne on her journey and Zoe Kravitz will play a friend of Suzanne when she travels to the United States. The number of episodes is currently unknown, but it has been confirmed that it's a one season show.
Brimstone: Joining Holland Roden in Mark Newton and David S. Goyer's loose adaptation of the BloodRayne video game series is Stephen McHattie, Kelly Hu, Manu Bennett and Tom Riley, completing the main cast. Lydia Hearst, Ludi Lin, Oscar Jaenada, Meghan Ory and Daniel Cudmore have been hired as part of the recurring cast. Role details are unknown to me at the moment, but I'll get back to you as soon as I have the info
Miami Vice: The latest pilot picked up by LRTV is a remake of the classic 80's series Miami Vice, by writer Roy Horne and director Peter Berg. It has been said that the pilot episode will closely follow the original series' pilot, but the remaining episodes will be a mix of original ideas, or based on the original series episodes. Cast remains unknown to me right now, but word around the studio is that they want good chemistry between the two leads.
Here's a copy of the schedule draft I found on Mo's desk, as you can see, there aren't many spots left.

******** EXTRA**********
As announced, the LRTV scheduled as been completely filled today, so I decided that it was a great time to talk about the award show, The Golden Views Awards
It will have several categories, just like every other award shows in the world. Here's the list of categories that will be included in the first ever edition of the Golden Views Awards.
- Best Production Design
- Best Ensemble Cast
- Best Screenplay
- Best Guest Actress
- Best Guest Actor
- Best Supporting Actress
- Best Supporting Actor
- Best Actress
- Best Actor
- Best Director
- Best Show
Now, here's what's a little different from the Golden Reel Awards and we want to know if you agree with this or not. At the Emmys, nominations are for a specific episode, so we would want, when asked, for the writer to give his choice for the nominations poll, just like you do for the movies, to add the episode for which he would like the actor, or his script to be nominated. Example:
Best Actor - Tom Cruise - Episode 2 : Mayhem
Best Actress - Angelina Jolie - Episode 1 : Pilot
Best Supporting Actor - Ving Rhames - Episode 2 : Mayhem
well, you get the idea. As I said we want to know if you like the idea or not, if you fill that it's too much to ask and only a few would do. As always, comment on the designated board thread.
I'll see you next week!
