Announcing Survivor: Last Resort

In the year 2000, on a picturesque island in the Pacific, 16 castaways set American television ablaze and kick-started the reality TV phenomenon that still runs rampant on our cultural landscape today. And now 19 years, Last Resort TV has acquired the rights to the one that started it all: Survivor.

Survivor is a competition show that transports a set of complete strangers to uninhabited location to compete until there is only one remaining. At the start of the game, the group is split into different tribes who compete against each other for immunity. The losing tribe goes to Tribal Council, where they must vote out one of their own. This continues until the tribes merge, at which time it becomes every man for himself. This will end with Final Tribal Council, where the last remaining competitors must face their jury peers and defend their game. The jury will then decide the winner of the grand prize of $1,000,000.

BUT...there can be no Survivor: Last Resort without YOU, the reader. So this is how the casting process will work:

  • We want you, the LRF community, to submit contestants to be entered into the game. It is recommended that this be someone completely from your imagination, although a celebrity here or there may be allowed in the game to shake things up. Please have a fun with creating your character but be realistic, so no aliens or anything!
  • The LRF community is predominately male but we’d like to get a 50/50 split between female and male contestants, if possible. There will be updates during the casting process if there is an imbalance in gender applications.
  • Depending on the number of applications, we hope to have between 16 and 20 contestants (16 or 18 is most likely).
  • You can (and are encouraged to) submit multiple characters but we will try to get every writer in, if possible. After every writer who wants to apply has, double selections can start to be made if need be. Characters not chosen will be archived and may have a chance to show up in a future season, if the show is successful.
  • Because of the above point, it is required that you put your writer name in the application. That information will not be shared by the producers in the show. To maintain this anonymity, do not submit yourself as a contestant this season (although an All-LRF-Writer Season may be possible down the line!)

And finally, here is the link to the casting application: https://goo.gl/forms/Iq407VuwRi3pa9oG3

The actual show will go like this:

For complete objectivity, contestants will be entered into an online Survivor simulator. We will then retrieve the generated results and record who is voted out each week and who is the eventual winner. This will be used as the backbone to write the show for Last Resort TV, with Chad Taylor filling in the blanks week to week based on the character bios that you all give. You can then root for (or against) your characters or the characters of others as we go along until the Survivor: Last Resort finale in the final week of the TV season.

PM Chad for any questions
