Following a lengthy hiatus, Last Resort Television is back for another season and I can't be more excited. Last season saw the end of the beloved and two-time Best Show winner at the Golden Views Nez Perce, which means that we will have a new winner this season. Whether it will be previous nominees L.A. Noire, Manson, Rolling Stone or Call My Agent, or another brand new show will remain to be seen, but we have some solid additions to our schedule for our third season.
Last season saw the network expand its schedule, but it didn't work for a number of reasons, so as you probably all know by now, we've decided to change our schedule, once again. We feel like it will allow us to air more shows while lessening the burden on the viewers by going back to two shows a day. Once again, I will explain the schedule change one last time and hopefully it covers the issues we had in Season 2.
The season will be split in two, the first and second half. It remains to be seen if there will be a break between the two halves but are currently leaning on not having a break. There will be two shows per weekdays, except on Monday, where my show will have the late night spot, and one show per weekend days.
Last season also saw the end of the fan-favorite Survivor: Last Resort, which leaves a gap in terms of fan interaction with the network. Studio head Mo Buck and Survivor: Last Resort writer have worked on a new original show that will involve the viewers to a certain extent. Rumors are that some writers were contacted a while ago but we are weeks away from learning more about this project, as it's expected to air in the second half of the season.
We are always looking for parity at Last Resort Television and we are proud to announce that we've managed to option 11 original stories and 11 adaptations for the upcoming season.
Without further ado, let's learn a bit about a few upcoming projects currently in development.
Crime of the Century : The network has optioned an anthology series from writer Lon Charles (Manson, The Temptations) and executive producer Bennett Miller (Sunny Days, Pressing Luck). The series will tackle a different high profile criminal case from history with each season. The first station will tell the story of Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb, known as Leopold and Loeb, who were convinced they would be prove their superiority and commit the perfect crime. The network has high expectations about the series and didn't hesitate to pay its stars, Alex Wolff (Jumanji: The Next Level, Scream 5), who plays Leopold and Nick Robinson (Isla Vista, Love, Simon), set to play Loeb.
Boreas : Following her failed bet with last season's Human, writer Ann Morrow (Human, Leaving Everything) will re-team with director Mark Romanek (The Price of Fame, Every Secret Thing) following their Season 4 award winning collaboration for a dystopian thriller set in a near-future dystopian world, where the world is paralyzed by a never-ending blizzard. The show has found its two leading ladies in Merritt Wever (Blind Faith, Unbelievable) and Thomasin McKenzie (Jojo Rabbit, Leave No Trace). They will play a mother and daughter struggling to survive in their harsh world.
Showtime: Following its well received first season, Showtime and its TCW roster are back for another season. Most of the main cast will return, with the exception of Joe Manganiello's Ricky Santana, whose status remains up in the air after Santana decided to leave the company for a bigger and better opportunity at the end of the first season. Steven Soderbergh is back and so are Mo Buck and Chad Taylor.
Miami Vice: Miami Vice is one of the rare show to have been around since the first season, as it enters its third season. The main stars are back once again and so are Peter Berg and writer Roy Horne. Rumors are that one of the main character may not survive the events of the season and we have no idea who it might be.
Here's what the current schedule looks like. You'll learn more about our various shows as we get closer to the season.
