Plot: It’s the middle of the night
and Jack (Donal Logue) is sitting inside his trailer, hiding, to drink whiskey
without his wife noticing. He hears noises outside and glances out the window
at Gerald’s family’s trailer. He notices Victor (Michael Mando) and Chartwell
(Clancy Brown) breaking in and making a mess inside. He hides carefully, but drops
his bottle. It shatters on the ground, waking up Rita (Yaya DaCosta). He begs
her not to make any noise and when Victor and Chartwell are gone, she screams
at him to stop drinking.
Gerald and Charles park near the abandoned
church and sneak inside. They hear some rattling and it’s only Judy (Jodelle
Ferland) trying to wiggle herself free. Gerald looks around and figures out
that Chartwell and Victor aren’t here. Charles runs to free Judy and Gerald begins
to look around for clues. He can’t find anything except all these weird symbols
and pictures of Steven and he doesn’t know how he is. He finds a list with a series
of names on it : Gerald, Charles, Steven, Ben and Logan. Gerald decides to steal the list. He surprises
Charles and Judy sharing a passionate kiss and he says they should head out.
They hear movement at the front door and Victor and Chartwell are back. Gerald,
Charles and Judy sneak out and leave with the car. As Chartwell realises that
Judy left, Judy asks Gerald and Charles where the hell are they ? Gerald, in
return, asks her who the hell she is.
Gerald (Brendan Fraser), Mary (Cara
Buono), Charles (Logan Lerman) and Sarah (Odeya Rush) enter the hospital and
Gerald asks at reception for a Horace. The lady says they don’t have a Horace
here, but they do have a Horatio. He remembers they all have Latinos names on
their identification and they head to his room. Horace (M. Emmet Walsh) and
Marco (Owen Vaccaro) are happy to see them and Marco immediately asks his mom
if he can eat. They’ve been sharing the food tray since the beginning and the food
isn’t good. Mary believes Marco and she says Sarah had a similar mishap with
the food. Gerald asks his father what happened and why he is plugged up to so
many machines. Horace says he doesn’t know and that he’s fine. Gerald says he won’t
let it stand and he tells his family to run fast, because they’ll get out of
here. Gerald unplugs his father and the family runs away before the nurse, who
was asleep, as the time to realise that Horace is gone.
They go back to the camping and
before they enter their trailer, they are greeted by Jack. He says he’s sorry he
was indiscreet and he may wonder why he was looking at his trailer, but he saw
someone breaking into their trailer, as if they were looking for something.
They ask him what did they look like and he describes Victor and Chartwell. They
thank him for the heads up and enter their trailer. He notes they are a
peculiar family and goes back inside. All night, Gerald doesn’t sleep and holds
on tight to his gun.
The following morning, Gerald admits
that it’s not safe for them to stay here after what happened last night. Now
that he has money, they can try to find a place to leave and people won’t be
quick to judge because they have modern clothes. Mary, Charles and him will go
downtown to look for an apartment, while Horace, Sarah and Marco stay here and
act normal. Gerald takes Charles aside and gives him his gun. He says he should
carry this with him. He has a plan in mind for tonight.
Marco asks his grandfather if he can
go outside and play and Horace, who doesn’t want to have him all excited around
him agrees. Sarah stays inside and tells her grandfather that it was irresponsible
to let Marco outside and Horace tells her that back when he was a kid, he used
to run outside all day and she isn’t a mother, she wouldn’t understand. Sarah
remembers the pregnancy test she bought. She can’t believe she’s pregnant, but she
wants to clear the doubts. She pees on it and looks at the result. She throws it
in the trash saying this is modern garbage and it doesn’t work. She looks at the
box and it’s supposed to be precise. She sees Rita (Yaya DaCosta) outside and Marco
next to her. He sees Judas (Keith L. Williams) and he asks if he can play the
virtual game again and Judas says they can. Sarah tells Horace that she’ll go
over to the neighbours for a while and he says it’s alright.
Sarah asks Rita if pregnancy test
are reliable and Rita says they always worked for her. She shows her the pregnancy
test and it is positive. Rita is happy for her and she asks her if she’s ready.
Sarah doesn’t know and she starts to cry. Rita says abortion is always an
option and Sarah gets serious and she says she can’t kill her baby. Rita says it’s
ultimately her choice and whatever she decides will be the right choice for
her. Sarah says they don’t have a place to stay and she can’t raise her baby on
a camping. Rita offers them to rent her deceased aunt’s house, not far away
from here. She says it would be a delight. During this time, Judas shows Marco what a
computer is and the first thing Marco searches for in a search engine, where he’s
supposed to find the answer for anything, is how to time travel. Judas finds it
peculiar, but he shows him he can print the screen too. He hands the paper to
Marco who keeps it. On it is Steven’s face.
Mary comments on the state of
available apartments in the city and doesn’t think their family could stay in
an apartment. She asks Gerald if they have enough money for a house and he’s sure
they don’t. The day is soon coming to an end and Gerald is starting to get
nervous. He passes in front of an appliance store and he offers Mary to enter.
It’s full of stuff and she has so much to learn. They’ll pick her up tonight. Charles
asks what this is about and he says he had to get rid of her. He asks Charles if
he still has his gun. They enter the car and he asks for directions to go to
Chartwell’s hideout.
Chartwell (Clancy Brown) and Victor
(Michael Mando) breaking in an apartment in downtown Montreal. They shuffle through
stacks of papers and break a couple of things. Chartwell looks at moon through
a window while Victor tries to start a fire. They hear movement below and
someone asks Steven if he’s home. They flee through the fire exit and leave the
messy apartment behind.
