Survivor: Last Resort: Cape Verde 1.6 - Episode 6

Survivor: Last Resort: Cape Verde 1.6 - Episode 6
Writer: Chad Taylor

When New Brava get back to their camp, Francis pulls Rajon aside and congratulates him on the move. In confessional, Francis is angry that Rajon never told him about the Hidden Immunity Idol. It obviously turned out to be the right move but it still feels like a breach of trust and he will have to reevaluate his options going forward. Meanwhile, Fiona and Megan aren’t too bothered by the vote but they do realize that they’ll have to step their game up going forward. Women are becoming a rare breed in this game and it is time to put that to an end.

The two tribes meet with Jeff Probst the next day for the immunity challenge. He explains that this is a special challenge: instead of competing as tribes, they will be individuals. The last individual standing will win his or her tribe immunity, along with a special reward. The challenge is simple: Standing on a narrow beam, and using a long pole, castaways must balance a statue. At regular intervals, they will move further away from the statue. If at any point, they fall from the beam or drop their statue, they are out of the challenge. The last person left standing wins immunity.

The order of elimination is: Francis, Rajon, Megan, Jim, Chad, Bonds, Fiona, Laura. It comes down to Chase and Jose. Upon reaching the back of the platform, Chase falters a bit and his statue wobbles. It finally falls, leaving Jose the victor of the challenge.

As Brava are celebrating, Probst tells all of the players to stay where they are: it is time for an impromptu Tribal Council. After that is done, they will be merging tribes. And not only did Jose win immunity for his tribe, but he also secured himself the reward: the first individual immunity of this game.

The New Togo tribe will vote while New Brava get to watch. They are given a brief period to talk things over, in which Kaiser/Chad and Laura/Chase mainly stick to their pairs. Laura and Chad talk briefly as she tries to pitch Chad on flipping so he does not become at risk (in case of a tiebreaker). Kaiser quickly squashes the conversation and tells Chad that they need to have as many original Togo members as possible going into the merge. Jose watches on nervously from afar. Chad is honest and says that he wants to take out Chase, who will be a threat to win individual immunity in the future. Jeff tells them it is time to vote.

First vote...Kaiser

Second vote...Chase

….Chase

…….Kaiser

That is a tie. They will now go to a re-vote. If they remain deadlocked, Chad and Laura will draw rocks and whoever draws the purple rock will go home. Chad turns to Laura and asks if he promises to not vote him out when they merge. Chase promises.

First vote...Kaiser

Second vote...Chase

….Kaiser

…...The sixth person voted off of Survivor: Last Resort: Kaiser. Kaiser, the tribe has spoken. He laughs and says it's about time they got rid of him. The island life was becoming grating anyways.

At their new merged camp, Chad introduces himself to everyone as he is the only one left never to have been on Brava. Jose and Jim also formally meet Chase and Laura as they have never shared a tribe. Jose is a bit flirtatious with Laura, which doesn’t sit well with Chase.

After everyone gets settled in, Fiona and Megan meet to talk about their best path going forward. Since Laura is the only female left, they want to team with her and Chase. When they propose this to their old tribe mates, they are totally for it and say that they were pretty close with Francis before. Francis is happy to reunite with his favorite pair and they tell him about the five-strong alliance they can build. He tells them yes but, in his gut, he is unsure. In confessional, he says that he will need to talk with Rajon. Meanwhile, Fiona tells Megan that, after the Sally vote, they should be able to get Jose on board so that would make a majority.

Jim and Jose talk in private, where Jose vents about Jim voting out Sally instead of Bonds. Jim shrugs his shoulders and says it was payback for leaving him out on the cold in the Rose vote. Jose tells him fairplay and that they need to stay Togo strong if they are to continue to survive. Jim actually agrees with this.

Bonds gathers his troops (Rajon and Francis) and they talk about their options in the upcoming vote. Bonds thinks that for the next three votes, they should focus on eradicating Togo. Francis says that he has heard that since Jose has individual immunity, the target for the rest of Brava is Chad since he is a clear challenge threat. Rajon isn’t so sure about targeting Togo outright as Jim did vote with them to get out Sally and they could use him as a swing vote in the future. At the same time, he does think that Chad is the most obvious target at the moment and they should try to let Jim know ahead of time so he isn’t blindsided.

Fiona, Megan, Chase, and Laura convene and talk about their target. After his flirtation with Laura, Chase offers Jose but Megan and Fiona shoot that down promptly. Laura says she doesn’t want it to be Chad either as she plans to stick to the promise she made him, at least for this vote. Fiona says then it must be down to the two Jim’s. Bonds has a been a thorn in their side since Day One and he clearly doesn’t have Original Brava’s interests in mind. They could get revenge for Sally while freeing themselves of having to hear Bonds do his James Bond schtick. Meanwhile, taking Jim Marshall is also a good option as he is clearly good at the strategic side of things. Plus he is Original Togo and so a true wildcard.

Rajon talks with Jim and tells him that Chad will likely be the next to go. Jim thanks him for the heads up. Afterwards, he meets with Chad and Jose, who tell him that Jim Bonds is the target from one side. Jose asks Jim where Francis’s head is currently at and they are not sure since he close with both Rajon and “Chaura”. Jose then asks who the Bonds squad is targeting and he lies on the spot and says Laura. In confessional, Jim explains that he has a weird gut feeling that Jose and Chad are lying to him again and that he may be the target by the other side. He is clearly nervous.

At tribal council, Jeff asks Laura if the dwindling number of females has become a topic of conversation in camp and she says not really. She thinks each situation was probably unique to the individual and not because of their gender. Chad agrees and says that it was as simple as the Togo females having an alliance together and the male alliance proving more successful. Jim knows that it is more complicated than that but bites his tongue so not to draw attention to old Togo tribe dynamics.

Jeff asks how everyone is getting acclimated with being all together for the first time. During this conversation, it doesn’t take long for the topic of tribal divisions to arise. Bonds says that it is natural for them to go back to the comfort of their starting tribes while Megan disagrees. The number of remaining Togo is so small that it doesn’t feel like Togo vs. Brava, anymore. Jim is in opposition to this statement, talking about how all of the former Brava members have a rapport that he, Chad, and Jose are lacking (which hurts their social standing as a result). Jeff asks Jose how important it was that he won individual immunity, especially if Jim’s statement is true. Jose says it is huge when you’re on the bottom and that he hopes to run the table going forward. Some laugh at this but he is confident in himself.

First vote...Jim Bonds

….Bonds

….Jim Bonds.

….Francis. Francis looks shocked and starts looking around confused.

…...Chad. Francis makes an audible sigh of relief.

…...Chad

…….Bonds

The seventh person voted off of Survivor: Last Resort and the first member of our jury...Jim Bonds. Bonds, the tribe has spoken.

In his post-show confessional, Bonds says he knew he was getting on people’s nerves but he was always going to be himself. He is visibly pissed at being turned on by his former tribemates, however. Now he will go off and enjoy a martini. Shaken, not stirred.

Votes for Bonds: Fiona, Chase, Megan, Chad, Laura, Jose, Jim
Votes for Chad: Jim Bonds, Rajon
Votes for Francis: Francis
