I guess it's time for business, so let's proceed, shall we?
It was opening week here at Last Resort Television and we've had some good shows… and some bad shows, as it's usually the case for network television. You've waited all week for them and we were anxious to see the numbers, but here are the official ratings for the first week of Last Resort Television, followed by a reaction from Mo Buck.
- Rolling Stone: 8.32
- Hitman: 7.96
- Gauntlet (Part 1): 6.29
- Drive: 5.85
- Miami Vice: 5.70
- Nez Perce: 5.59
- Gauntlet (Part 2): 5.36
- Survivor: 4.94
- Brimstone: 3.99
- Lady of the House: 3.91
- Leaving Everything: 3.81
- Fa-Sass Queens of Style and Skill: 3.77
- Search Here: 3.72
Mo Buck's reaction: As predicted, we have some smash hits and some shows that underperformed. The pressure was on the weekend shows to perform the best and they did just that. I'm just wondering if they'll be able to keep the pace. Gauntlet is also a pleasant surprise, with not much hope rating-wise when it was first announce, but it ranks the highest on week shows and it's on the Friday slot. However, the ratings were way down for the second hour of the double feature, so it will be interesting to see if the high season debut rating was just a one-time thing. I would say that four shows underperformed this week. Lady of the House and Leaving Everything were always going to be a tough sell, so let's see how it will pan out. The last two are a little worrying. With the amount of money we spent on these two projects, it's a profound disappointment seeing them struggle to find an audience like that.
Since I have your attention, I would like to officially announce, that with first ratings announced, the network has decided to officially renew two shows.
From executive producer Oliver Stone, the network is pleased to announce that it will unsurprisingly renew the show for a second season, after the D.R. Cobb written show received unanimous critical acclaim and reached a big enough audience to justify the expenses.
ROLLING STONE : RENEWED!
The Dwight Gallo and Francis Lawrence series is officially renewed for a second season. With a good critical reception and good ratings to justify the expenses, it was a no brainer for the network to renew a popular show.
HITMAN: RENEWED!
And now back to the James Morgan Show...
I know this is only our first week, but I was tasked to brief you about our next season, already. We've discussed the matter in the past week and we've reached the following conclusion:
Our next season will, hopefully, have 21 shows. We had a hard time to fill our current schedule, but we figured it's because we didn't give you guys enough time, so we are officially starting pilot season. So, here are the new criteria for Last Resort Television Season 2:
- Word limit hasn't changed. We're going for 2,500 words for the pilot and 2,000 words per episodes, but as you can see, there aren't a lot of shows who have reached that limit.
- With more shows on schedule, we've decided to increase the number of shows per writer to three. There was a limit of two shows per writer, but it has been increased to three.
- You may think that all of your shows are safe, since we're increasing the number of shows on schedule, but I can assure you that some shows will be cancelled. The cancellations will be announced around mid-season, so it will give more time to the writer to pitch a new idea, because we've decided to "protect" your spot when your show is cancelled. So if a show written by Mo Buck gets cancelled, then Mo Buck will still have that spot, unless he sends a message that he doesn't want to replace his show with another one for the following season.
With that announced, I can only say one thing : flood our inbox with your pilots people!
See you next week!
