Fa-Sass : Queens of Style and Skill 1.2 - The Name Gets It's Claim to Fame

Fa-Sass: Queens of Style and Skill - The Name Gets It's Claim to Fame
Genre: Animation / Comedy
Director: Genndy Tartakovsky
Writer: Jacob Jones
Cast: Stephanie Anne Mills, Nika Futterman, Catherine Taber, Hynden Walch, Diego Luna, Steven Wright, Emile Claire Barlow, Vincent Martella, Donovan Patton, Tara Strong and Miranda Cosgrove

The episode begins a few weeks after the last episode with Robyn (Nika Futterman) readying herself to take on ‘Insane Lane’, the most spine-tingling, heart-pounding skating course of all. Peyton (Catherine Taber) watches on, videotaping the event on her phone while Cassandra (Stephanie Anne Mills) and Summer (Hynden Walch) cheer her on. Robyn blitzes through the course with relative ease, making it through tricky courses ‘Ollie Osbourne’, ‘Grinded By The Sun’ and ‘Flipping The Bird’ before entering the ‘Mother Hawker’, the most intense ramp ever devised in a skateboarding rink.

She does several flips on the ramp, all impressive in execution. The others cheer for her, but Cassandra soon notices that she’s going a bit too fast and asks if Robyn could slow down, Robyn doesn’t hear her and keeps skating. Soon the three realize she is running out of control and begin to freak out, calling for her to stop. Robyn finally does hear them just as she’s about to lose control, but by then it’s too late as she flies off the ramp.

Cassandra chases after Robyn, trying to catch her. In the end though, Robyn ends up crashing onto Cassandra and pinning her onto the ground. Robyn celebrates being the ‘world champion of skating’ for a bit until she notices Cassandra lying on the ground and helps her up. Peyton and Summer run up to them in concern, but Robyn assures them that they’re fine. Even more than that, they’re ‘Fa-Sass’.

Robyn gets confused looks from everyone and explains that it’s a cool nickname she came up for her and Cassandra to describe their relationship. Peyton and Summer glance at each other and come up with excuses to head for home. As they do so, Robyn looks away, embarrassed.

That night during dinner, Cassandra asks why Robyn came up with a nickname for them. Robyn isn’t responsive at first, looking at her dinner despondently. Stacy (Tara Strong) notices this and asks Robyn if everything is okay. Robyn quietly tells them that she’s not hungry and heads off to her room for bed. Concerned, John (Donovan Patton)considers talking to her, but Cassandra offers to do so in his place.

Inside Cassandra and Robyn’s room, Robyn can be seen softly crying to herself when she hears the door knocking. She lets her in and Cassandra sees the tears on her face. She comes up to her and asks her what’s wrong. Robyn says she doesn’t get how Peyton and Summer didn’t understand Fa-Sass. Trying to understand, Cassandra asks what a ‘Fa-Sass’ is. Robyn explains that it’s the two of them. The bond they share as a family.

“But they don’t know that.” Cassandra admires Robyn going out of their way to give them their own name, but she’s still new to them and they don’t fully understand their connection yet. Plus, the actual definition of a ‘Fa-Sass’ hasn’t been created yet. She then asks Robyn what a Fa-Sass really means. Robyn cannot answer the question.

Cassandra sits by her, trying to cheer her up, saying that ideas take time to fester and blossom into something great. Fa-Sass may not be perfect now, but she knows that one day the nickname will be trending. It just needs time and some more thought. She also says that it’s a lot better than her first catchphrase, “Everything’s going Cassie.”. Robyn and Cassandra spend the next few seconds trading bad catchphrases for themselves and laugh at them. The two hug each other, Cassandra promising Robyn that she’ll get it one day.

The next day during science class, Mr. Everbuddy (Steven Wright) reminds them that tomorrow is picture day and reminds everyone to wear their absolute best and goes over the dress code. Cassandra smirks, knowing what she and her BFFs are doing today. After class, Cassandra, Peyton and Summer make plans to work on a ‘Picture Day Fashion Show’ and garner clothes from the Groovy Gravy Mall. When Robyn hears of their plans and is asked to come, Robyn tries to pass up the offer saying she’ll just go in her normal wear.

“Uh, Robbie? I’m pretty sure that’s a bad idea.”

Robyn hears Stephanie G (Emile Claire Barlow) next to her and attempts not to be distracted by her. Noticing this, Peyton comes up to her and whispers a few flirty phrases to her. Robyn smiles widely and stands next to her in advance. Cassandra comes up to Stephanie and asks what the problem is, to which Stephanie reveals that one time a girl got caught looking normal and got humiliated by the entire class, even creating a new nickname for her: ‘Blandie Bayley’.

They all shudder the prospect of Robyn becoming the next ‘Blandie Bayley’ as Cassandra makes Robyn’s participation mandatory, much to her reluctance. When the four leave though, Hugh (Vincent Martella) and asks if they bought it. The two break down into a laughing fit and walk off to their class: Stephanie walking into the door before realizing there’s a door knob there.

At the Groovy Gravy Mall, Cassandra, Peyton and Summer are buying everything they can see much to Gideon's displeasure. But before he can tell them to stop, he takes one glance at Peyton glaring at him and explaining the situation and stares at her in awe. Sensing his temptation, Peyton offers him a hundred dollar bill so they can continue their shopping spree. Gideon obliges, letting them do whatever they want in spite of Robyn's inner rage (Sadie (Miranda Cosgrove) ends up taking the hundred dollar bill).

By the time they head out, Cassandra has so many bags she can barely see and has to rely on Summer to tell her where to go. She ends up tripping and bumping into Jupiter (Diego Luna), nearly dropping her bags on the process. Jupiter recovers them and asks if she's planning anything for tonight. She stammers on and on until Peyton comes in explaining they have a fashion show planned at Cass's house. Intrigued, Jupiter offers to come watch. Cassandra breaks into an overexcited cheer, stunning and amusing some of them. When Cassandra sees their reaction, she blushes in embarrassment and welcomes him to come.

That evening: Cassandra, Peyton and Summer all take turns showing off some of their finest picture day fashion wear to the audience Jupiter and Cass's parents. When it's Robyn's turn however, she has cold feet and finds all this stupid. By this point, Stephanie is shown skipping her way home and hears commotion going on from inside the house, she ends up bumping the door and gets in an argument with it, something that takes everyone's attention. Jupiter opens the door and sees Stephanie.

Confused, Stephanie learns about the fashion show to prevent Robyn from becoming a ‘Blandie Bayley'. After being reminded of how she told her story, she cheerfully admits that the story was fake and introduces Robyn to her ‘funny side'. Everyone steps back in anticipation, seemingly awaiting a tirade from Robyn. But instead, she chuckles softly and tells Stephanie she got her good. She then gives her some advice.

“Next time, instead of making up nonsense to my cuz and her friends, maybe you should focus on your own wardrobe problems. No offense, but your midriff looks like it's going to burst in a great explosion and there's no way we can afford getting fired on the second day.”

Stephanie begins to panic and frantically asks Robyn what to do. They both turn to Cassandra for the answer and she says she can give Stephanie the outfit she had planned to give Robyn beforehand and let her wear it for tomorrow. Stephanie agrees to it, causing Robyn to breathe a sigh of relief. A few minutes pass and Stephanie comes out wearing the attire, receiving rave reviews for her look. Stacy and John commend Cassandra and Robyn for their unique way of dealing with her fashion problem calling it a regular ‘Fa-Sass'.

Robyn hears the word and expects everyone to laugh at her, but instead Peyton and Summer compliment the name and call them a great team. Feeling better about herself, Robyn shakes Cassandra's hand, celebrating a job well done. Robyn beams a large smile that fits perfectly well with the school yearbook.

Brimstone 1.2 - Bathory

Brimstone - Bathory
Genre : Action / Horror
Executive Producer: David S. Goyer
Writer : Mark Newton
Cast: Holland Roden, Stephen McHattie, Kelly Hu, Manu Bennett, Tom Riley, Lydia Hearst, Ludi Lin, Oscar Jaenada, Meghan Ory, Daniel Cudmore and Amber Valletta

Morton, Mississipi - In the underground lair of the Brimstone Society, Rayne (Holland) is in the middle of combat training with Mynce (Kelly Hu), who is trying to get Rayne to properly utilize her vampiric abilities while maintaining control over them. Rayne already has increased strength and agility, but Brimstone Society leader Tremaine wants to know if a dhampir could have any of the other vampiric abilities, such as shapeshifting.

New Orleans, Louisiana - Angela Bathory (Amber Valletta) meets with Jorge Wolfe (Oscar Jaenada). Bathory has the ability to summon Daemites, parasitic serpent-like creatures. Wolfe tells her to head to Morton, Mississipi and unleash her daemites upon the town to kill all of the members of the Brimstone Society so that he may collect the heart of the ancient demon Beliar, which the society may have stored in their vaults.

Belgrade, Serbia - Kagan (Manu Bennett), the vampire overlord who leads the Cult of Kagan, is readying his children for their trip to America. He tells them to head to a state known as Mississippi. By the time they arrive, Bathory's daemites should have already decimated the population of the town they need to head to, so all they'll have to do is locate their half-sister, Rayne. Kagan's children Ephemera (Lydia Hearst), Ferril (Meghan Ory) and Xerx (Daniel Cudmore) are loaded into a shipping container for their trip to avoid any sunlight on their journey to the other side of the world.

Back in Morton, Severin (Tom Riley), the Brimstone Society's chief weapon maker gives Rayne an upgraded version of her twin blades to test out. He tells her that he made them lighter and and more durable. Meanwhile, Bathory has arrived in Morton, and begins unleashing her daemites on the town. The daemites begin taking over the townspeople, forcing themselves inside the bodies and wrapping themselves around the spinal cord and tapping directly into the hosts' nervous systems. The daemites control the body of their hosts and are incapable of feeling pain. Tremaine alerts the rest of the Brimstone Society that the town is under attack, so it might be a good time to test Rayne's skills.

Mynce and Rayne head above ground and find the town run amok by daemite hosts. Mynce and Rayne attack the daemites, by chopping off their heads and limbs, but the creatures quickly regenerate, regrowing the body parts. Tremaine tells them that he's encountered the creatures once before and that the only way to kill the daemites is to sever the host's spinal cord. Rayne draws out her new and improved twin blades and cuts a host in half at the torso, killing the creature. Realizing there won't be a town left if they half to kill all the hosts, Tremaine and Severin search for the person controlling the daemites on a series of security monitors, revealing that the Brimstone Society has cameras all throughout the town. They spot a woman, Bathory, sitting on a balcony in town.

Tremaine heads to the roof of the town's church with a sniper rifle. He aims the rifle at Bathory on the balcony. He fires, hitting her in the head. However, her head quickly regenerates. She then sets her sights on Tremaine, sending several host-less daemites towards Tremaine. Rayne notices this and heads up some stairs to the balcony to confront Bathory. Sharp bones emerge from Bathory's arms, and she stabs Rayne in the shoulder. Rayne pulls the Bathory's bone out of her arm, breaking it off of Bathory. She then throws the bone at Bathory, who avoids it by jumping off the balcony to the ground below, and begins running away. Rayne leaps down and begins chasing Bathory down. Rayne chases her all the way to a quarry outside of town. Rayne tells her she has nowhere to go now, so she has to fight. Bathory begins summoning more daemites from the ground, but Rayne kicks Bathory, sending her falling down into he quarry several hundred feet below.

Rayne walks back to Morton, and finds the residents of the town are no longer possessed by daemites, but many already had to be killed during the fight. Mynce tells Rayne that she got lucky, and shouldn't go running after a supernatural creature all alone until she's completed her training. Rayne and Mynce butt heads about this and almost come to blows before they are broken up by Tremaine and Severin.

Back in Serbia, Kagan's associate Dariel (Ludi Lin) enters the castle and reports to Kagan. He tells Kagan that Wolfe's associate, Bathory, failed her mission. Unhappy with the report of failure, Kagan rips one of Dariel's eyes out and eats it. Dariel screams in agony on the floor. Kagan tells him that now he will see what Dariel sees.

Miami Vice 1.2 - Swamp Country

Miami Vice - Swamp Country
Genre: Crime / Action
Director: Peter Berg
Writer: Roy Horne
Based on the television series
Cast: Josh Holloway, Taye Diggs, Katrina Law, Brad William Henke, Troy Garity, Marco Rodriguez, Callum Turner, Shalim Ortiz, Brent Werzner, Devin Ratray, Abby Miller

Plot: Sonny Crockett (Josh Holloway) and Ricardo Tubbs (Taye Diggs) are in a rundown Miami hotel protecting Joey Bramlet (Callum Turner), a key witness in an upcoming trial. Finally, their fellow OCB officers Stan Switek (Brad William Henke) and Larry Zito (Troy Garity) arrive to relieve them.

In court, Tubbs testifies against Ruiz, telling the jury how Bramlet led them to the dealer. The jude recesses the trial until Monday morning. Crockett and Tubbs are both certain that Bramlet's testimony on Monday will put Ruiz away for life. Back at the hotel that night, Switek and Zito start bickering about what to watch on TV. Bramlet slips out the door and escapes.

At OCB, Lt. Lou Rodriguez (Marco Rodriguez) berates Switek and Zito for losing their key witness. He then tasks Crockett and Tubbs with tracking Bramlet down and bringing him back by Monday, or else Ruiz will most likely be released. They head over to Bramlet's favorite bar, and the bartender tells them that Bramlet was there a couple hours ago and that he said he was heading back home to the Everglades.

Crockett and Tubbs arrive in Bramlet's home town, Okeechobee, Florida, and Tubbs is shocked to find signs of high-level drug trafficking in such a rural town. Crockett tells him that he heard the DEA has put undercover agents in town a couple times before, but the agents never came back. At a bar they meet a couple of locals, Floyd (Brent Werzner) and Billy (Devin Ratray), who buy them a round of beers. Tubbs finds this suspicious since it is obvious to him that they appear to be white supremacists. Crockett asks them if they know where they can find Bramlet, and the two men offer to drive them over to his place. They drive out into the swamps, where Floyd and Billy beat Crockett and Tubbs and drive off, stranding the two vice cops in the swamps.

Lost in the Everglades, Crockett and Tubbs start walking back towards civilization, but end up running into a group of armed men who take the two prisoner, taking them to a woman, Cassidy (Abby Miller), who reveals that she knows who they really are. She then takes them by to boat to an old house in the swamps where they encounter more armed men, along with Bramlet, who tells them that Cassidy is his wife, and that Ruiz's men have taken their young daughter and threatening to kill her if he takes the stand and testifies against Ruiz. Floyd and Billy are working with Ruiz and have their daughter in a house near town. The house is guarded by twenty Colombians armed with assault rifles. Bramlet tells them that he can only muster six men, but asks Crockett and Tubbs to help him save his daughter. Crockett insists the odds are impossible, but Bramlet reveals that Ruiz has a shipment coming in the following night, meaning that at least half of Ruiz's men will be away from the house dealing with the shipment. Crockett is still not particularly convinced, but he and Tubbs agree to at least check the house out.

That night, Cassidy tells Crockett and Tubbs about how their families used to run liquor during Prohibition, before switching over to marijuana smuggling to support their families. When Ruiz moved to the area, he began forcing the marijuana operations to work for him to smuggle cocaine, killing anyone who tried to work their own operations.
A seaplane carrying Ruiz's cocaine shipment arrives at dawn. Tubbs takes a couple men with him to hit the shipment to act as a distraction for Bramlet to rescue his daughter with the help of Crockett and a few other men. Tubbs shoots up the crates, while at the same time Crockett launches an attack on the house with Bramlet. While the locals fire upon the guards outside, Crockett sneaks in through a skylight to rescue Bramlet's daughter. He finds her being held at gunpoint by Billy, who threatens to kill her if Crockett so much as blinks. Crockett quickly shoots Billy in the head. Meanwhile, back at the shipment, Tubbs chases down a fleeing Floyd and arrests him. Back at the house, Bramlet and Cassidy give their daughter a hug. Tubbs tells Bramlet that they need to hurry back to Miami so he can testify against Ruiz. Crockett, Tubbs and Bramlet speed off toward Miami.

In court, Ruiz is clearly furious to see that Bramlet has shown up to testify. Ruiz makes a scene in the court room as Bramlet describes Ruiz's operation to the jury. The judge holds Ruiz in contempt of the court and orders the bailiffs to remove him. Crockett, Tubbs and Rodriguez move forward to assist the bailiffs in restraining Ruiz, but Ruiz manages to get his hands on the gun of one of the bailiffs' and starts firing in the direction of the police. He manages to get a shot off before he is killed by Crockett. Just when they believe order has been restored, Crockett and Tubbs notice that Ruiz's shot has hit Rodriguez in the chest. Rodriguez collapses to the floor as Crockett yells for an ambulance.

Crockett sits by Rodriguez's hospital bed. Rodriguez is in critical condition. Fellow OCB officer Gina Calabrese (Katrina Law) shows up to comfort Crockett. He's upset that he wasn't quick enough to shoot Ruiz before he could fire the gun. Gina tells him that he shouldn't blame himself, he should blame Ruiz. Rodriguez begins to crash. Doctors and nurses rush into the room to try to save him. Gina pushes Crockett out of the room.

Based on the novel by Anais Barbeau-Lavalette
Cast: Rebecca Hall, Robin Tunney, Tobey Maguire, Adam Brody, Oliver Platt, Colm Feore, Odette Annable, Lucy Hale, Phoebe Torkin, Ryan McPartlin, Brenna Sherman and James Le Gros

Plot: 1942. A couple of years after the previous Quebec prime was ousted, arts were thriving in Quebec, after decades of repression. A man, Paul-Emile Borduas (Colm Feore) presents his first ever collection of paintings at a Montreal art gallery. The exposition is overlooked by the general public, to Borduas’ deception, but is a hit for a small portion of the population. Borduas wakes up one morning and is sad to see that there’s no mention of him in the Journal, or the Gazette. He takes his cup of coffee, and heads to the school where he’s teaching.
His small group of students is there and applaud him, for what they think was a successful exposition, but he’s unflustered, telling them to settle down so they can get down to business. His students, a bit older than your average student, were awakened when they found out about art and have quit jobs they didn’t like to study their passion with Borduas. Amongst them, Jean-Paul Riopelle (Adam Brody), Oliver Platt (Claude Gauvreau), Marcelle Ferron (Odette Annable) and Marcel Barbeau (Tobey Maguire) are frequently regarded as his best students. Borduas explains the basics of painting, as Suzanne (Rebecca Hall) silently listens next to the door, having just enrolled in the school.
When she was younger, Suzanne (Brenna Sherman) was not an ordinary kid. She didn’t act like an ordinary little girl. Whereas her friends stayed inside and played, she was running outside in the mud and the rain, getting herself all dirty, to the obvious disappointment of her mother. Claudia (Phoebe Tonkin), Achilles (Ryan McPartlin) and the rest of the family were getting ready to go to church, all dressed up and ready to go, but Suzanne just had to chase this butterfly. She tripped and fell in the mud. Achilles picks her up and gives her a good slap across the face, as Claudia urges him to stop. When they get to the church, Suzanne, not wanting to fall in line like the other kids, acts improperly, forcing her family to do the walk of shame, leaving the church before service is over. Back at home, Achilles beats her again, as Claudia cries in the background. She has a little baby bump showing.
When Borduas gives a little exercise to his students, reaches over to Suzanne and he asks her if he would want to join the class. Suzanne says she’s inexperienced in the painting domain as she’s more of a poet, or a writer. He says to today’s class is more about painting, but he often meets after class with some of his students, to write and to give themselves ideas. He says she’s welcome to stay, but she should definitely come tonight. Suzanne politely declines the offer, as she’s working in a diner tonight and speaking of this, she has to leave now. As she walks in the old city, Marcel who was the girl Borduas was talking to. When she enters the restaurant, she tells her boss that she won’t be able to work tonight, she’s sick.
Anna (Robin Tunney) puts her book down when she’s interrupted by her uncle’s doctor (James Le Gros). He asks her to follow him to his office, where they’ll be able to talk more privately. The doctor says her uncle hasn’t received a visitor in a long time. She asks if it’s possible to know who’s the last person to visit him and he says his father came in one time. The doctor claims he doesn’t have anyone they can contact in case of an emergency and until his father showed up, they were certain that he had no family. In fact, he’s been hospitalized since he was eighteen years old. The doctor asks her what brings her in Francis’s life and she says that his mother died and she’s tracking down her family. As the doctor guessed, they aren’t really close. The doctor receives a call and he has to leave. Anna leaves while he’s gone, but she’ll come back, she wants to know why her uncle is like that.
Borduas and his group of students sit in a cafe, talking about society and how they disagree with everything that’s happening in the world. Suzanne arrives and Borduas gives her a warm welcome. He presents her to Françoise Sullivan (Lucy Hale), Claude’s girlfriend. She’s an esteemed dancer and she officially invites her to her show tomorrow. Suzanne gladly accepts and she orders a coffee. They laugh together and have fun. Borduas takes out crayons and pencils from his bag and they all start to draw, or to write on napkins. Suzanne then realises that she hasn’t been this happy in a long time. She writes a poem about that and reads it aloud to the others and are moved by it. They say she’s officially part of the gang now. Borduas coldly says that he has to leave. A man is seen watching him from afar. It brings the mood down and they all leave one by one. Suzanne and Marcel remain and they leave together. He shows her around town, walking through old Montreal. She looks at him and laughs when he tells jokes, he looks at her too with a certain envy. It starts to snow and they hold hands. Suzanne is so happy.
A young Suzanne continues to get on her parents’ nerves. Constantly defying authority, she gets up in the middle of the night, right when all of her younger siblings are sleeping and she gets closer to the dreaded, forbidden piano. She lifts the keyboard protector and starts to play whatever she feels like, with the sole purpose of waking up her siblings as she wants to play with them in the middle of the night. Her mother, Claudia, comes out of the darkness of the living room and grabs her daughter. She brings her over to her fortune bed and covers her the best she can. Achilles comes downstairs and looks all over for the culprit. The babies are crying and the toddlers are up. Achilles stinks of alcohol and doesn’t see Suzanne, who’s hidden by Claudia. The whole family is gathered in the living room and Achilles grabs his belt and whips it.
1944
Borduas is crying. His group of students is gathered around him, reading the newspaper. It’s been two years she’s been in Montreal and she’s never seen her stone cold teacher shaken up to the core like this. She doesn’t know what is going on and even Marcel won’t tell her what’s happening. Borduas gives a sign to Riopelle and he grabs a match out of his pocket and he throws it on the ground. The fire quickly spreads and consumes all of their paintings and writings. Borduas throws his newspaper in the fire and we can see, out of the burning paper, that the new Prime Minister, Maurice Duplessis, back in office after a five-year hiatus, bans all non-religious art.
