Miami Vice 3.2 - Jamaicans

Miami Vice : Jamaicans

Genre : Crime / Drama
Showrunner: Peter Berg
Writer : Roy Horne

Based on the television series
Cast: Josh Holloway, Taye Diggs, Andy Garcia, Katrina Law, Megalyn Echikunwoke, Brad William Henke, Troy Garity and Mike Epps

Plot: Ricardo Tubbs (Taye Diggs) arrives at the sailboat home of Sonny Crockett (Josh Holloway), finding him past out drunk on the deck, sleeping next to his pet alligator Elvis. Tubbs wakes Crockett up and asks how he's doing since this isn't the first time he's woken him up after a night of drinking since Cassidy was killed. Crockett lights a cigarette and tells Tubbs he's fine. Together the two drive into OCB where Lt. Martin Castillo (Andy Garcia) briefs them on a new case. Overnight, a deal involving a violent group of Jamaican drug dealers went wrong, resulting in the deaths of several other dealers. Castillo tells them to start investigating the case. Gina Calabrese (Katrina Law) notices how bad Crockett is looking and tells him that if she needs anything to give her a call.

Stan Switek (Brad William Henke) and Larry Zito (Troy Garity) have taken over a pawn shop as part of a stolen property sting. Izzy Lamont (Mike Epps) walks into the shop and surprisingly doesn't recognize the officers. He tries to sell them several obviously stolen items. Eventually, Switek and Zito remind Lamont who they are and ask him if he's heard anything about the Jamaican dealers that have been causing trouble around town. He tries to leave the shop, but Gina Calabrese and Trudy Joplin (Megalyn Echikunwoke) stop him.

Izzy Lamont takes Crockett and Tubbs to a nightclub. Lamont says he will need a few hundred dollars in order to get back to talk to the people with information on the Jamaicans. Crockett gives him $250 and tells him to hurry back. Izzy walks to the back of the club and slips out the back entrance, only to find Tubbs waiting for him. Crockett throws Lamont into the trunk of his car and drives him to the OCB lock-up.

The next morning, Lt. Castillo informs the team that Homicide has found the van reportedly used by the Jamaicans during their dealer rip-offs and have arrested the shooters. Crockett decides to let Lamont out free with the promise that he'll stay out of trouble. Lamont doesn't promise, but Crockett lets him go anyway. Trudy and Gina are looking through all the evidence on the case and announce that Homicide has made a mistake. They found the wrong vehicle, and the men they arrested are Haitian, not Jamaican.

Crockett goes to Lamont's place and finds a truck of Jamaicans parked outside. Crockett calls for back-up, then sneaks around to the back door of Lamont's place. He looks through the window and sees some men holding Lamont at gunpoint, demanding to know what he told the police about them. Lamont insists that he was simply arrested for trying to sell some stolen stuff, nothing to do with any dead drug dealers or his knowledge of the Jamaicans.

Tubbs, Switek and Zito arrive at the scene along with a SWAT unit. The SWAT unit surrounds the truck outside, forcing the Jamaicans inside to surrender. Crockett, Tubbs, Switek and Zito enter the house and gun down the Jamaicans inside. Lamont is hit in the crossfire, taking a bullet to his arm. He immediately threatens to sue the police department for pain and suffering if they arrest him for not giving them information on the Jamaicans like he promised. Crockett tells Tubbs to take Lamont out of there since he's sick of listening to him right now.
