For Your Consideration... Golden Views Edition

The nominees were recently announced for the 1st Golden Reel Awards and I've covered with you all the considered actors and actresses and now that you've narrowed it down, I figured I could make my own predictions for the upcoming ceremony. I will follow a format that you know very well and I like it a lot, so I figured I could use it. Here we go...

BEST PRODUCTION DESIGN
Who Should Win: Nez Perce
Who Will Win: Vixen: Nez Perce
No Chance: Miami Vice

Thought(s):  There are two period pieces amongst the nominees and Nez Perce has the most momentum of any show coming in the ceremony, so I do think it's going to win this one and it is well deserved. Miami Vice, while certainly worthy of a nomination, feels like the third man out there.

BEST ENSEMBLE CAST
Who Should Win: Nez Perce
Who Will Win: Nez Perce
No Chance: Rolling Stone

Thought(s): Nez Perce brings forward Native American talent like never before and gives them a chance to showcase their talent and for that only, it should get recognized. While Rolling Stone's cast is good, I don't think any supporting members gave any memorable performances, so it impacts its chances of winning.

BEST SCREENPLAY

Who Should Win: Nez Perce
Who Will Win: Nez Perce
No Chance: Call My Agent & Rolling Stone

Thought(s): Dwight Gallo delivered a masterpiece to our screens and what was decidedly the best show on air for Season 1. While Call My Agent showed ingenuity with his way of handling the various antics and Rolling Stone perfectly captured the crazy era, Nez Perce's script is just on another level.

MOST GUEST ACTRESS
Who Should Win: Lily Gladstone - Nez Perce
Who Will Win: Margo Martindale - Call My Agent
No Chance: Dora Madison Burge - Rolling Stone

Thought(s): Whether you like it or not, star power comes to play in this category and guest stars are most likely to be remembered by how showy their roles were, so Martindale will take home the gold here. Lily Gladstone, however, gave us the most heart-wrenching scene of the season and I would love to see here win based on that scene alone.

BEST GUEST ACTOR
Who Should Win: Stephen Dorff - Rolling Stone
Who Will Win: Alden Ehrenreich - Call My Agent
No Chance: Wes Studi - Nez Perce

Thought(s): Star power and name recognition alone will secure this one for LRF favorite Ehrenreich, but I think Dorff deserves this one more, because Ehrenreich's role was a little too pedestrian for me, but Dorff was scene-stealing as the eccentric Hunter S. Thomson.

BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS
Who Should Win: Robin Tunney - Leaving Everything
Who Will Win: Amber Midthunder - Nez Perce
No Chance: Caroline Dhavernas - Call My Agent

Thought(s): This category is a bit of a wild card, but I can see Amber Midthunder winning based on Nez Perce's wave of momentum. However, I would love to see Robin Tunney win because she carried that show and she wasn't the main character… and that's saying something.

BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR

Who Should Win: Alfred Molina - Lady of the House
Who Will Win: Gil Birmingham - Nez Perce
No Chance: Rainn Wilson

Thought(s): I LOVED Molina in Lady of the House, but the show lost too much momentum during the awards season to beat out a red hot Nez Perce and I must say that Gil Birmingham gave one hell of a performance. I'm excited to see who will come out on top.

BEST ACTRESS
Who Should Win: Linda Cardellini - Lady of the House
Who Will Win: Linda Cardellini - Lady of the House
No Chance: Rebeca Hall - Leaving Everything

Thought(s): This is clearly Cardellini's award to lose, although I could see Manville sneaking in and stealing the win. Rebecca Hall was probably just nominated for the lack of a better option and frankly, I think Aimee Teegarden was more deserving of a nomination. Allow me to express my concerns about the lack of quality leading roles for our actresses, which shows, once again, at the Golden Views, after a crazy weak leading category at the Golden Reels.

BEST ACTOR
Who Should Win: Josh Hartnett - Rolling Stone & Adam Beach - Nez Perce
Who Will Win: Josh Hartnett - Rolling Stone
No Chance: William Fichtner - Gauntlet

Thought(s): I honestly can't decide between Hartnett and Beach, who gave two totally different, yet equally great performances in their respective shows, although I think Hartnett's star power will get the better of Adam Beach. As much as I love William Fichtner, I think he has absolutely no chance of winning.

BEST SHOWRUNNER
Who Should Win: Oliver Stone - Rolling Stone
Who Will Win: Oliver Stone - Rolling Stone
No Chance: Antoine Fuqua - Gauntlet

Thought(s): Again, not much seperates Stone and Cooper, but as far as the overall influence on the show goes, I have to give the slight advantage to Oliver Stone. Both have been nominated for a GRA in the past and Stone even won, so I think his legendary career will help him add another award to his collection

BEST SHOW
Who Should Win: Nez Perce
Who Will Win: Nez Perce
No Chance: Call My Agent & Rolling Stone

Thought(s): Listen, I love all three nominated shows, but does anybody think Nez Perce will not win that one? I will be shocked if it doesn't win.
