Plot: Sonny Crockett (Josh Holloway) arrives at OCB where Lt. Martin Castillo (Andy Garcia) informs him that he has been assigned a new cover car. Castillo leads Crockett to the garage behind the station and reveals a white 2020 Ferrari F8 Spider. Crockett's jaw drops. Castillo tell Crockett he better take care of the car since he had to fight with the the higher ups to keep the car off the auction block. Ricardo Tubbs (Taye Diggs) joins them in the garage and asks to ride along in the car for a test drive. Castillo tosses the keys to Crockett and urges him to abide by the speed limit. Not too long later, Crockett and Tubbs are speeding down the highway in the Spider, going well over 100 MPH with ease.

Ira Stone (Desmin Borges) is in near the Mexican border observing Cartel runners from afar. He takes out a camera and begins recording their movements. He then sees them kill several local, but by their movements he suspects that they have been professionally trained, something rare for Mexican drug operations. He then thinks he recognizes the man giving them orders. He quickly gathers his camera and escapes the area.

When they get back from their test drive, Crockett and Tubbs find Ira Stone waiting for them in front of OCB. Inside Stone shows them the video, but pauses it on the man he recognizes. Crockett says it kind of looks like Maynard from afar, and Stone says that's exactly what he thought. Stone asks them what they think of how the men are operating, and Tubbs and Crockett both agree that they move in a precise manner not characteristic of the cartels, almost like they have US military background. Stone says that's what frightened him enough to leave the area before recording any more. They show the footage to Castillo, who agrees that it's troubling, but reminds them that they are Miami police who don't have any jurisdiction outside Dade county. Crockett asks the recently back to work Stan Switek (Brad William Henke) to try to keep Stone at the station. Switek says he can't make Stone stick around. Crockett tells him to lock Stone if he has to.

When Crockett arrives at his boat that night and finds a couple spooks waiting for him. They want to know where Ira Stone is. Crockett says he can't help them. Crockett lets Elvis out of the cabin, which scares them off his boat. Crockett calls Stone and informs him that some shady CIA types were around looking for him, which means that somebody doesn't want that video getting out. Based on the noises in the background, Crockett asks Stone where he is. Stone says he left the station to get a hotel room. Crockett is pissed that Stone left and demands his location. Stone tells him that he left the video at OCB and gives him the name of the hotel. Crockett orders him to stay put and gets in the Spider.

When Crockett arrives at the hotel, Stone is nowhere to be found. Crockett's phone begins to ring. He looks at the caller ID, which says Ira Stone. He answers to find Maynard (Richard Burgi) on the other end of the line. He tells him that he wants the video in exchange for Stone's life. Crockett calls Tubbs and tells him to grab the video and head down to his boat. When Tubbs arrives, Crockett tells him that they will simply hand over the tape for Stone since they still have a digital copy of the footage.

When they arrive at the meet, Crockett and Tubbs demand that Maynard prove Stone is still alive. Maynard orders his men to bring Stone out. He is heavily beaten and bloody. Crockett tosses over the hard copy of the video. Maynard laughs, asking if Crockett thinks it's 1986 or something. He knows they're bound to have uploaded it somewhere and orders his men to kill Crockett and Tubbs. Switek, Trudy Joplin (Megalyn Echikunwoke), Gina Calabrese (Katrina Law) and even Lt. Castillo arrive with a SWAT team as backup. In the ensuing gunfire, Stone is mortally wounded. Crockett chases after Maynard, who boards a waiting helicopter nearby. Crockett opens fire at the chopper, causing it to spiral out of control and crash into the ground with an explosion. Crockett rushes back to Stone's side, but finds that he's already died.
